What is Nilson's Blogger?
Nilson's Blogger is a free, full-featured web log (aka "blog") system written in PHP. It could also be used as a type of CMS.
Why Nilson's Blogger?
Well, I can think of two good reasons, and there are plenty more.
One: It requires no database - all posts and comments are stored in the filesystem.
Two: Nilson's Blogger has a smaller development team than most other blogging systems
(two folks at the moment, but there are other contributers), and we listen to any and all user input.
The fact that Nilson's Blogger requires no database means that it won't be as resource-intensive on your server.
Why is Nilson's Blogger free, and what do you get out of this?
It's free because, come on, who wants to pay for software? I believe in free software as well as open-source software, and Nilson's Blogger fits into both of these categories. Of course, the other developers and I do not get any money from this project but we do get experience, enjoyment, and something to do.
If you would like to help out with this project, start a thread in the Developers Forum or drop an email to one of the project admins (email addresses can be found on the project page). I always welcome criticism, positive or negative, so feel free to drop an email, even if it's just to comment.
Who are the foks responsible for Nilson's Blogger?
I started out this project alone, but as it grew, a few folks have contributed a lot to this project.
None of these people are paid (of course). The list of contributers can be found in the CREDITS file
which is available by checking out the current CVS tree. You can do this by (if you have CVS) typing this into a console or terminal:
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sf.net:/cvsroot/nilson-blogger checkout nilson-blogger
I will make the credits more
readily available later.
